रविवारी अंतिम फेरीत झालेली गाणी जेव्हा काल आणि परवा परत ऐकली तेव्हा तर तू म्हणते आहेस ते अजूनच स्पष्टपणे जाणवले..

नी,
तुझं अंतीम फेरीचं observation अगदी perfect आहे. मलाही कार्तिकी ने गायलेली गझल भयंकर आवडली, आर्यापेक्षा कणभर जास्तच. हीच कार्तिकी आधी eliminate झाली होती अन निव्वळ callback मधून परत आली होती, यावर कुणाचा विश्वास बसेल..?
अन प्रथमेश ची अवस्था अगदीच वाईट होती. "सुरत पिया की" चा आत्मा हरवला होता बाकी तू म्हणतेस तसं अगदी gallery साठी झालं ते. फक्त तेच हिंदी गाणं नव्हे (ज्याची पुरतीच वाट लावली त्याने) तर बाकी शास्त्रीय सोडून इतर गाणीही त्याने आधीच्या सर्व फेरीत तशीच एकसुरी गायली आहेत. रोहीत सुरात कमी पडतोच या दोघांपेक्षा पण उद्याचा performer and singer म्हणून मला त्याच्यात potential जास्ती दिसतं. बर्‍याचशा वृत्तपत्रात लिहून आलय तसं विजेता/विजेती घोषित करायला खरं तर महाअंतिम फेरीची गरज नव्हतीच...its just business today by all channels to do mega finals.

एक सांगू का लोक्स ? ह्या ५ पैकी एकालाच निवडणं खरंच चुकीचं होतं. कारण प्रत्येकाचा आवाज, बाज, style, वेगवेगळ्या गायनप्रकारासाठी योग्य आहे. माझ्यामते, as follows...

प्रथमेश - शास्त्रीय संगीत.( संजीव अभ्यंकर म्हणाले तशी बैठकीची गायकी ).
आर्या - सुगम संगीत ( भाव गीत, भक्ती गीत, तसेच melodious romantic songs )
कार्तिकी - लोकसंगीत ( भारुड, गौळण, लावणी, इ.)
रोहित - पॉप ( थोडक्यात ढिंच्याक गाणी )
मुग्धा - बालगीत ( मुग्धा गीते. माझ्यामते ती खूप सुंदर गाते. ज्यांना हे पटत नसेल त्यांनी मुग्धाची, पावट्या, वाजवी पावा गोविंद, नारायणा रमा रमणा, घट डोईवर, जिवलगा कधी रे येशील तू, नथीचा पडला खडा, हुरहुर असते तीच खरी, इत्यादी गाणी ऐकावीत. पण मुळातच ती स्वतः अजून बाळच असल्याने तिच्या अवाजात सगळीच गाणी बालगीतंच वाटतात. so अजून काही वर्ष तरी बालगीतच !)

ह्या सगळ्यांनी इतर बाजांची गाणी ही लीलया गायली. पण त्यांचे आवाज त्या गाण्यांना suitable नव्हते.
for example, दिसते मजला सुखचित्र नवे हे गाणं कार्तिकीपेक्शा आर्याच्या आवाजात जास्त गोड वाटलं असतं. रानी माज्या मळ्यामंदी हे प्रथमेश च्या आवाजात अजीबात शोभलं नाही. त्याला रोहितच पाहिजे. असो.
कार्तिकी १ ली आली म्हणून इतरांसाठी वाईट वाटण्याचं कारण हेच आहे. माझ्यापुरतं सांगायचं झालं तर कुणीही १ लं आलं असतं तरी मला इतर चौघांवर अन्याय झालाय असंच वाटलं असतं.

आणि अंतिम फेरीचं म्हणाल तर ५ ही जण भरपूर घाबरलेले होते. त्यांनी हीच गाणी स्पर्धेच्या इतर फेर्‍यांमधे जास्त छान गायली होती.

Kartiki won based purely on her talent - not on any other basis. Remember Devaki Pandit's comment on her singing - she said she has a unique voice and she advised Kartiki not to copy anyone's voice. That is the point where it was clear Kartiki was the winner. No matter how much I try, I can't help listening to Kartiki's performances again and again. Sure, the others were technically superior - but that is not the only criteria - the most important thing that decides a good singer is not music education - because music comes from the heart, not books. Really Zee should be congratulated that they discovered a gem from the soil inspite of knowing that many people would oppose this decision. Kartiki is the best - no doubt about it for me!
All the contestants were good. However, 49 of them were trying to be as good as someone else (like other famous singers). Only Kartiki was brave enough to be herself and sing in her own style. For that alone, she deserved the prize. And she did so successfully that I cannot get her performances out of my mind. I am 40 years old and live far away from India, yet I am humming her songs again and again.
Indians need to get inspired by Kartiki for bravely being original and innovative. For long, Indians have got stuck with the mentality of copying others. That is India's biggest weakness. We think book knowledge is the most superior. And we have lost the will to innovate. In Kartiki, I see a determination to innovate without fear. For that alone she deserved the prize. Learn from little Kartiki !
So many people are upset with Kartiki becoming the winner. I cannot understand that. Is it because her style is folksy and scholarly? The scholars of music should remember that music comes from people to scholars, not the other way around. Music is a natural human talent, not a learned one. Those who criticize Kartiki's victory have simply forgotten this simple fact, and are blinded by a scholarly perspective of music.
The only contestant whose songs I can remember are Kartiki's. All others sounded like familiar singers. Only Kartiki was able deliver new and unknown songs and make me hum them constantly. So - the decision was basically correct - ring out the old and ring in the new !
And lastly - all you people attacking Kartiki's victory - you are trying to count stars while the Sun is out - perhaps you are not able to stare directly at the Sun (Kartiki's victory), and are desperately trying to view 49 other stars blanked out by her brightness.

अहो आश्चर्यम, त्याच blog वर हा बघ "गेलाराम" या युसर ने लिहीलेला प्रतिसाद. अर्थातच इंग्रजीतून

This contest was never about pure talent, as in musical scholar- rather it had many other bases, i.e. performance, judges, and of course public voting-sms. Remember Asha Khadilkar's comments about Mugdha’s voice quality or of Sanjeev Abhyankar’s about Prathamesh’s potential or Sachin’s complements to Rohit about being a future music director, or umpteen no of complements by many respected judges to Arya about her singing? That is the point where it was clear that everyone here was a winner. “Technically” superior was never the only criteria. But the most basic thing that “makes” a musician is education like in any other field. Why else the Grandmaster Shriniwas Khale would advise everyone and Kartiki in particular to “firm up the classical musical base”..? because though the music or for that matter any art comes from the heart, the “expression of the same and the one that would appeal to all the musical ears” (not the masses et.al..) requires education. To be accurate for your info, music of today is originated in the “Omkaar” which is only sound and no vocabulary or word dictionary and was Later developed and construted with basic principles which make the music-education. So on that aspect alone no argument justifies a winner with no music education or base. You seem to have conveniently forgotten the fact that Kartiki herself has been informally training with her father who himself runs musical educational-vocational classes for kids. Wonder if there is a need for that "Education" then? It is good for you and for Kartiki certainly that you like to hum her songs every now and then and for you she is the winner. Many people are humming many songs by these 5 contestants if that makes them winner as well.
All the contestants were good and they were trying to sing the best they can, not necessarily as good as someone else as in other established singers if that’s what you mean. End of the day what is original? A voice, a singer or the song’s rendition? Even the last “sa” of one octave is not considered original sur by itself but merely a high frequency twin brother of its lower octave sibling? Is there anything original than 7 surs and 22 shrutis..? that too for a human ear which can not decipher subsonic or supersonic sound waves? So let us set aside this argument of originality. Kartiki was brave enough to sing the songs composed by her father, if that is originality. So for that alone she deserves to be the winner..? Umm..doesn’t fit in.
You seem to have confused the influence with copying just as people confuse passive resistance or silence being weakness or criticism being agreesion? For long Indians have cherished and treasured music created by Its legendary singers which continues to inspire all generations alike for many decades now and to call that as India’s weakness is basically sort of ignoring the solid foundation of Taj and be amused by its domes and carvings, no matter how “Indian” they are. The fact that Indian music grown from khyaal gaayaki to Thumaris to the recent pop combo should be evidence enough that the biggest strength of India and its musical minds has been their ability and flexibility to adapt to the “times” now. And there was no book written with Bars, Chords and Notes for Pop or Combo music specifically, you see it’s only a manifestation of same old 7 surs in its different forms. So in fact innovation has been the only ingredient other than basic surs and bits of Indian music that made it possible for the music and its listeners to come so far. Kartiki certainly deserves the credit to be different but not at the cost of calling other competitors, or Indian music listeners as copybook naïves who don’t understand what is innovation all about.
People simply don’t understand what were the criteria used to decide Kartiki as the winner of the competition when she was eliminated in the previous rounds not because she was innovative but simply because she was lacking the basics of music, sur, taal, lay, shabda. If there was no call back “Espisode” of sort I wonder whose tunes you would be humming today? Or if that would be the Doom’s day for you as the so called Sun wouldn’t have been out? Or then you would just do with the 49 other "Stars"?One has to "live with the reality" isn't it?
In India people consider any form of art as God’s gift simply because when he created Eve and Adam he didn’t find it necessary to bestow upon them the “art” of music in specific for the simple purpose of survival. So art in general does not come under necessary conditions of life. The scholarly perspective of music strives to achieve that perfection which soothes the mind and pleases the ears in most technically perfect world. There are those on one side some musically fanatics, perhaps "scholastic idiots" in your world who forget the material world let alone scholastic technicality and consider that music for them is bliss, is ultimate attainment of peace, harmony and believe that when the listener feels the same way, the goal of music is achieved. These idiots often are looked upon by millions as music legends.. while on other side there are shreks and mogalys of the musical world, perhaps "innovators" in your world who basically can scream at the same frequency Hz but do not appeal to the scholastic idiots of the above. And in the middle are guys like you and me who are left with the judges’ choice or some sms number, at the best.
So all that you have written about Kartiki is well appreciated at the personal level but to gauge the taste of Indian music lovers you have to first understand the music in its entirety let alone the various forms of puristic music that we see i.e. music based on expression-rendition(North Indian), based on progressions (South Indian) and based on harmony (Bengal-ravindra sangit), and many such others.
Having said all that, all you people who think that we are attacking Kartiki’s victory- you are counting arrows in the shields and are simply ignoring the fact that it takes only one to bleed. On more positive note perhaps those who feel Kartiki’s victory was justified on the merit have simply made the other 4 contestants look brighter and more promising. As they say in the hindsight it is always 20/20.
For now congratulations to Kartiki for her victory and for your victory and we pray that this SUN throws some light on the “innovation” that went into making this happen, which will be at least the torch light for many such competitions and competitors to come. Until that day you and I have to coexist in the same world.

वरची english पोस्ट वाचून एक विचार आलाय मनात. final सोहोळ्यात एक गोष्ट मला जाणवली होती. एक कार्तिकी सोडून कुणाचेच गाणे रंगले नाही. अगदी काही वेळापूर्वी पर्यंत मला असे वाटत होते की मुलं घाबरलेली होती. पण आता असे वाटतेय की ती निराश तर नव्हती निकाल आधीच माहित असल्यामुळे?

ते दुसर्‍या गायकांची नक्कल करण्याविषयी, कितीतरी वेळा अवधूत आणि वैशाली असं म्हणाले आहेत की मूळ गायकाने हे असं गायलं होतं, त्यातल्या या जागा महत्वाच्या होत्या, त्या घेतल्या पाहिजेत... याचा अर्थ, त्यांच्या दृष्टीने मूळ गायकासारखे गाणे हे कमीपणाचे नव्हते, उलट त्या गायकीच्या जास्त जवळ जावे असाच आग्रह ते पण करताना दिसत होते...

Intersting... my wife made similar observations... that after around 10 pm, esp. before their "final song " of the night, suddenly facial expessions of Prathamesh, Rohit and Mugdha changed and Arya seemed to be covering up the expressions as well. I personally do not beleive that Zee will "do" that to these innocent kids but it was bit too difficult to "ignore" I suppose.

आधीच्या कोणत्याच एपिसोड मध्ये, इतरी कार्यक्रमांच्या शेवटच्या फेरीत हा फिल नव्हता, असे मला वाटते.
ही माझी अगदी वैयक्तिक प्रतिक्रिया आहे. कोणी दुखावले गेल्यास येथेच क्षमा मागते.

मिलिंदा, तूम्ही जे म्हणत आहात ते बरोबर आहे.. पण ते तसे का म्हणत होते तेही लक्षात घेतले पाहिजे.. मूळ गाणे जसे गायले आहे तसे तर आधी गा.. आणि मग तुम्हाला पाहिजे असेल तर ते वेगळ्या पद्धतीने सादर करा.. जेणेकरुन तुम्ही स्वतःचा पण काहीतरी अभ्यास केलेला आहे हे जाणवेल आणि तयारीही जाणवेल.. ह्या लहान मुलांकडून ही अपेक्षा करणे चूकच आहे पण मूळ गाणे जसे आहे तसेच गावे ही अपेक्षा अगदी योग्य आहे..

आणि नक्कल करणे ह्यात नक्की कशाची नक्कल हा ही मुद्दा येतोच.. एखादे गाणे जर मूळचे अत्यंत नाकत गायलेले असेल तर परत गाताना पण तसेच नाकात गायले तर ती नक्कल होईल. पण तसे करताना त्यातल्या जागा जर नीट घेतल्या गेल्या नाहीत तर ती फसलेली नक्कल होईल.. आणि मग तिथे वैशाली किंवा अवधूत म्हणतात तो मुद्दा उपस्थित होईल..

लतादिदी, आशाताई, सुरेश वाडकर, कै. वसंतराव ह्यांनी काही गाणी अशी म्हणली आहेत की त्या गाण्यांची नक्कल करणे महाकठीण काम आहे.. फक्त ते स्वतःच ती गाणी परत तशी गाऊ शकतात.. त्यातली काही गाणी गाण्याचा प्रयत्न ह्या सगळ्यांनी केला.. तो करताना एखादी खुप अवघड जी जागा आहे ती जर येत नसेल तर ती वगळून म्हणल्यामुळे फरक पडत नाही तर ती तशीच्या तशी म्हणताना फसली तर मात्र नक्कीच फरक पडतो..

योग, खूपच मोठा योगायोग म्हणायचा की हा.. अर्थात तुम्ही दिलेला प्रतिसाद मी तिथे वाचलेला नव्हता.. वाचला असता तर दोन्हीचा विचार केला असता आणि मगच पोस्ट केले असते.

मी काल महाअंतीम फेरी पाहिली.
मी फक्त त्या फेरीबद्द्ल बोलणार आहे.

कार्तिकीने superb stage performance दिले.
दिल खोल के गायली. सहजता होती. मस्तच. तुला रं गड्या भिती कशाची ....
(आपल्या आवाजाला suit होइल असे )गाने गाताना तीने खुप 'enjoy' केले. 'गाताना सर्वांना सामील केले.' ते आवडले.
गाण्यांची निवड तिच्यासाठी बेस्ट होती.
हिंदी गाणेही (दमादम मस्त....) मस्तच झाले. काय confidence !
त्यामुळे कर्तिकीच्या विजेतेपदाला अगदीच आक्षेप नसावा.
सर्वच रत्ने आहेत.
जर ती विजेतेपदाच्या तोडीची नसती तर... आज चार रत्ने दिसली असती.

हिंदी मध्ये कार्तिकी आणि रोहितची गाणी फार फार आवडली.
प्रथमेश चे सर्वच गाणी छान होती. ऐ मेरी जोहरा... छान झाले. पण तेच गाने का?

आर्या खुप गुणी आहे.
सर्वच गानी छान . चम चम .. मध्ये तिचा आवाज अप्रतिम. (वैशली हुन सरस).
(पण गाताना उत्फुर्तता दाखवली ती कर्तिकीने. )
आता कशाला उध्याची बात मध्ये आर्याने मस्त variation आणले.

मुग्धा चे
ये इश्क हाइ... फारच ढेपाळलेले होते. मुग्धा दमली हिंदी गाताना, असे मला वाटले.

ओव्हर ऑल या स्पर्धेत काही स्पर्धकांना ओव्हर रेट केल गेल आणि बर्याच स्पर्धकांना अंडर रेट केल गेल.
उदा: कार्तिकी चं 'या अली' हे इतक 'शेकी' -बेसुर, थकलेल, उर्दु उच्चारां मधे ढिग भर प्रॉब्लेम असलेल गाणं खरच 'प' डिझर्व करत होत का?

अवधूत आणि वैशालीने कै च्या कै ओव्हर रेट केलय हे गाण !
'ग' सुध्दा खूप झाल आसता या गाण्याला !
आणि कोण म्हणाल होत इथे कि सरेगमप मराठी चे जजेस दिसण्या बद्दल नाही बोलत?
वैशालीने तर गाणं न ऐकता फक्त कार्तिकीच्या हात वार्यांना, दिसण्या बद्दल आणि हालचालीं बद्दल च बोलणं पसन्त केलं!
या उलट शाल्मली आणि शमिका ला आणि कधी कधी अवंति ला जास्त च क्रिटिसाइझ केल् गेल !
शाल्मली च्या 'लटपट' ला पण कार्तिकि च्या बिलो ऍवव्हरेज 'या अली' इतकेच रेटिंग?

कार्तिकी आणि मुग्धा ला ओव्हर रेट करून त्यांना फायनल मधे आणल्यामुळे टॉप ५ च्या सगळ्याच राउंड्स जितक्या रंगायला हव्या होत्या तितक्या रंगल्या नाहीत(आर्या-रोहित्-प्रथमेश तिघां मधेच गुणवत्तेच्या बेसिस वर स्पर्धा वाटली), या प्रोग्रॅम नी आधी सेट केलेला क्लास डाउन झाला त्यामुळे !
शिवकल्याण राजा राउंड्स तर फक्त आर्यानी पूर्ण डॉमिनेट केल्या.
कार्तिकी-मुग्धा ऐवजी जर शाल्मली आणि शमिका असत्या तर मजा आली असती,(शमिका च 'जय जय शिवराया' आधीच्या राउंड मधे सुरेख झाल होतं म्हणून शिव कल्याण राजा ला तिची आठवण आली.).. एक छान मुझिकल ट्रीट मिळाली असती.. शाल्मली तर अत्ताच प्ले बेक ला तयार आहे !
'कशाला उद्याची बात, कशी करु स्वागता, अंगणी माझ्या मनाच्या, प्रेमा काय देउ मी तुला, रुणुझुणुत्या पाखरा' सारखी गाणी येउन कधी तिचा 'जयजयकार' करावासा नाही वाटला जजेस ना.
सगळ्यात म्हणाजे 'बाळगु कशाला व्यर्थ कुणाची भीती, हृदयी प्रीत जागते' गाउन एलिमिनेट होण्या सारख दुर्भाग्य (सारेगमप च्या स्टेज साठी) अजुन काय असु शकत ?
फायनल च्या लेव्हल ला कार्तिकी -मुग्धा चे अव्हरेज परफॉर्मन्सेस पाहिले कि शाल्मली ची कमी खूप जाणवायची नेहेमी..
असो, Reality show हिंदी असो किंवा मराठी, deserving singers not always get deserving opportunities !
प्रोग्रॅम चा क्लास कितीही चांगला असला तरी, एलिमिनेशन्स मराठी मधेही बरेचदा अनफेअर झाली.
तिथे आस्मा मोहंमद रफी-याशिता सारख्या मुली नयना सक्सेना-शशि सुमन सारख्या फ्लॉ लेस गायकांना मागे टकून टॉप ५ पर्यंत जातत आणि इथे मुग्धा आणि कार्तिकी सारख्या मुली शाल्मली-शमिका सारख्या गायिकांना मागे टाकून टॉप ५ मधे जातात !

dj, मोदक तुला . शाल्मली, शमिका, नेहा खरच deserving होत्या. सुरुवातीला पाडलेले junior and senior groups continue ठेवायला हवे होते. शांत गाण्यांमधे कार्तिकी कित्येकदा बेसूर होत होती. शिवाय high pitch गाण्यांमधे ती कधीकधी कर्कश्य वाटायची. मुग्धा कितीतरी वेळा गातांना गडबड करायची. everything was ignored.

himscool, तुम्ही प्रत्यक्ष म्हटलं नसलं तरी जो मोठ्ठा blog extract तुम्ही दिलाय , त्याचा सूर असाच आहे की कार्तिकी तेवढी हिरा, बाकी सगळी immitations. आणि तुम्ही हा मजकूर इथे दिलाय त्या अर्थी तुम्हाला तो मान्य आहे असंच समजणार ना कुणीही ?
