Since 75 years the Marathi citizens of the Baroda vadodara Gujarat have been celebrating a yearly event when for two three days they get a great taste of the best in the Marathi literature scene.The President is a invited Guest ,a great litrateur of repute-distinction who regulates the sessions.His inaugural and Ending speeches are truly a commentary on the yaer of craetive and social marathi life depicted in its literature published or in any media.Famous celebrities from film or television and artists are invited each year in December .A musical evening ,a multimedia presentation,live performances,poetry recitation by the reputed poet himself,a social topic to be laid bare by discussion,a drama,and various competetions are held.Awards for local artists who have excelled at national level or translations and other work is rewarded-felicitated.
This year program was--
1.Kavita Pano pani=Poetry in each page (of our lives) By Sudhir Moghe a poet of 30 years standing..was a passionate stand alone presentation non stop ..with great play of words..
2.Gappa-Katta- Live Interviews of many popular sare gam ma artists from TV world and there live performances informally and very open and fresh way of understanding the artists..in front of a local ground full of people even in these 10 C winter nights.
3.Parisanmwad=Balance sheet of our 60 years of independance =well presented by prominant citizens achievers and professionals in their fields.The progressand what remains to be done..our failures and debts..social ,litral,and family impact of these events on our lives ..The President this year was a Dramatists writer and a poet Director and Chief of the Bhawans' Cultural Center Mumbai -SHRI SURESH KHARE JI who was large hearted in placing his experienced comments on all these aspects too.He appreciated the baroda crowds who flocked to such a discussion on a cold sunday morning and packed the hall.
4.A one man show by a child artist Devashish Paithankar from nashik..fenacting various marathi drama classics. well done and many had taers in their eyes..too.
5.Ti= She= a multi media and live presentation by daughters of the ertwhile Singer of repute MANIK VERMA JI..Vandana Gupte -TV artist and Rani verma dedicated themselves to the life of a woman as seen by them their mother and a story of a generations of women ,esp DURGA , a caharachetr who tells us all the sentiments of growing up as a girl.She opens up all t hat a women feels and goes through trials and happy events of her life as she gives birth to another girl and then reaches grand mother age..no hard hitting feminity statements ..but celebartion of the women hood..well presented ..till past mid night on sunday
