Blossom: Check your local library for books on TSE (Test of Speaking English) exam which should help you alot as those books generally have audio cassettes as well.

Blossom: The easiest way is to watch various programs on TV... especially News/Talk Shows/Famous Serials, etc. Also check out
Toastmasters, even TSE books have audio cassettes which might help... :-)

Blossom, I think, its not a question of the medium but the way a person thinks, makes a lot of difference on the construction of a sentence which makes the sentence easy or difficult to understand not only to others but later on to himself too. :-)

Parthiv, download GRE booklet from ETS's website
www.gre.org. They always keep latest version of it on web. Study the booklet to know the syllabus for the test. For study purpose, Barron's Guide is more than sufficient for taking GRE. When u register for examination, ETS will send u Powerprep test s/w comprising three tests. Nowadays most of the centres keep only CBT test means computer based tests. GRE is a higher level aptitute test & its much easier than what exams like CAT/GATE. If you are Marathi medium student then you need to devote more time for vocabulary section. Actually, vocabulary of any language is the outcome of what u read, write and studied so far. So when u prepare for GRE, its very essential to practice those words in routine life. When u by heart words, u tend to forget it if u won't use it. Hence u decide ur own logic, how to by heart it & how to use it. Remembering words with the help of phrase/statement is a good practice. For math's section if u r an engineering student its very easy to score higher. U need not have to prepare but u must take few sample tests prior to examination. For taking sample tests, refer any book. But for study purpose u refer Barrons thoroughly. Its really more than sufficient. Syllabus has changed a lot in five yrs. Hence take opinions of those who are recent test takers. Join any GRE class where there are number of students who can compete with u. When u take test with 10 others, ur speed.. ur zeal.. ur motivation.. automatically increases.

Wish u good luck and don't give up! I always wanted to take this test; I even prepared for it also.. but after my father's .. I had to stick to job.

Barron's is good one. I had made cards for remembering words and their meanings, little bit smaller than post card size and wrote about 10 words on the front and meanings on the back. You can carry them with you and whenever u have free time u can just look through them(like when traveling in train or something). Also if u read books like reader's digest, they frequently use this words, as I am from Marathi medium, my vocabulary was very poor, so this things helped me.
