Few questions, Why did you put Gentamycin drops(?) in his eyes? How did you come to conclusion that he had infection? Please don't use antibiotics as if you are taking pain killers and put yourself in hell trouble of antibiotic resistance. And Bee, I strongly discourage these old ideas of goat milk, what is the scientific evidence for that? We are talking about eye here, a very delicate organ!!! Also, how many of us think that they keep sterile cotton at their home which can be used for eye purposes?? About your experience, I am not surprised, our family doctor(?) is somewhat similar of this kind, He doesn't like to tell what he is prescribing (as he gives medicines from his own stock and that red liquid). I asked him many a times b'coz of my educational background but didn't help much. He has never told me what is that red liquid. As a patient, its my right to know what medication I am taking. He is absolutely useless in case of emergency. We had some kinda emergency when he was about to close dispensary and I rushed just to make him stop for a while till patient arrives to dispensary and to my GREAT surprise he refused to stop, time is over and I am leaving!!! You know they are still treated like Cream of the Society (?), Unless they are told where they stand, these things will keep on repeating. In fact, you would have done good job by reminding her supposed job!!

i have been through a major eye surgery myself, due to an accident. I understand the value of timely cure! Megha, fortunately, looks like nothing was too wrong with Prathamesh's eye, but yes, i agree with Prasad. Lot of caution should be exercised while using medicines. Use of antibiotic drops looks to be okay though, of course with the advise of a doc. Antibiotics are used not because there is an infection, but to avoid any possibility of infection (I had to use if almost for 2-3 months after my eye was apparently okay) The problem with injuries of kids is that they cannot describe what's happening to them. In such case, that family doctor of yours, she should have at least examined him. I think any minimal qualified doctor should know the basic anatomy of the human body to understand if things are right or wrong. "What is wrong" could be the domain of a specialist. So far we have been fortunate enough not to have any bad experience with doctors. But yes, friends have had experience, where there was a person at their home who got a heart attack, and a small hospital close by refused to admit him. Another ambulance was called after their refusal. They refused even first aid till the ambulance from the other hospital arrived. The time was so unfortunate that the patient could not be saved. This was some years ago. But in the last year, in Pune, we have ahd particularly good experience of "105" heart brigade. From the time we made a call, they arrived within 30 min.s and they come well equipped, i.e. treatment starts as soon as they come

caukIcao Aaho kaÆ my concern was that Dr. not even bothered too examine or look into child's eye and guide us .. then y u hang a board of child specialist on yr dispensary? and my purpose of telling that " even his eye was not looking that red and hit was not that severe " as i saw it bcoz i was present there .. it wasnt definately taken lightly.. a DO. fr mumbai advised me to clean up the eye thoroughly with pure water and avoid infection .. for doing so she said i may use gentamycine till i visit eye specialist.. as car was not at home what immidiately i did was , i took him to child specialist.. and expected primary treatement ..
