Hi,

Two years back I purchased the car. I've taken a loan from DCU. Now after two years if I refinance the car then I guess I will get the lower interest rate.
Does anybody know any other organizations other than DCU which offer competative refinancing interest rate? Is there any pitfall in refinancing the car?

manali tu 2 varshapurvi car ghetalis?? ;o)

bar ata muddyakade vaLu.

refinancing is really a very good idea and it saves money. if you have enough credit history, you can apply for good Credit cards such as
DISCOVER, AMEX. ask them for balance transfer aPR rates.

there are 3 APR rates
- Purchase
- Cash Transaction
- Balance transfer

mostly some or all of this rates are introductory and valid for 3 or 6 months or a fixed date.

If this is the case, check the regular rates.
If you can pay off all the amount within this introductory period then its a good deal, otherwise at the end of the introductory period, you'll need to find another such offer.

In my case, I also had DCU Loan and the remaining amount was not much high so I transfered my entire amount to HouseHold Bank Card for 3.9%APR
my DCU APR was 9.4% which was too high.

anakhi 1 loan tip:

If you have taken Loan from DCU and if you have MORE money available to pay than your monthly premium, or available before actual monthly due date, pay that off immediately.

Keep in mind following facts:
The interest is calculated on daily basis so even if you pay one day before due date, you EARN that interest

Whatever Payment you make, it is first applied to pay off the interst accumulated over the period from last payment on the balance amount, the rest of the payment is used to deduct from your balance amount.

So Paying More or Paying Early will not only save the interest but MORE portion of your payment will be applied towards your balance amount and for subsequent payments the interest amount also goes on reducing.

Yes. I missed that part.
But mostly for higher amount (>500$) companies waive that off.

But yes, you should check that also.
Best way is to talk with the Customer representative online and ask for:

-How much max I can Transfer the Balance?
-What will be the APR?
-For How much duration it will be valid (In case of Introductory APR) and what is the APR after that period?
-are there any refinancing charges.
