Water -
How much is too little or too much?

Deciding how much water your body needs is not very easy. But one can follow a simple rule - 1/2 ounces or your weight in pounds.
Confused ??!!
Example - If my weight is 100lbs. (I wish :-() then on an average day I would drink 50oz of water. Avarage day is - sit at your desk and work. If your office has AC then little more like around 60-65 oz. as AC dedyadrates body and same goes for very dry sunny atmostphere.

But listen what your body tells you. Notice all the changes that take place.

Caffine plays a bad role when it comes to water. It generates acid in body and to flush that acid body utilizes more water. Same goes for sugar.

Store bought fruit juices are not substitute for plain and pure water. Also not the Sodas - again big dehydrators.

When body is dehydrated then first symptom is you get headache. Sowhenever you have headache ..first thing you should do is drink glass full of water. Also When u feel hungry even after a full meal possiblility is you are dehydrated.

Listen to your body. water is best thirst quencher there is - use it :-)

HI!!
I would like to add some points regarding use of oils. according to recent studies, no vegetable oil is safe at high temp.i.e. for frying purpose or at high heat. but you would happy to know that safest oil is coconut oil and safest fat is ghee. they dont change chemically at high heat. coconut oil is the very essential and healthy alternative,it gives very sustainable energy, healthy skin ,hairs, eyes. It must not be refined.
we are making much praise about olive oil but do you know that while extracting olive oil so many chimicals are used for commercial benefit, so use it in proportion, read the lable carefully. It shouldbe cold pressed, not refined and high quality.
coconut oil is also safe to it raw , unheated,it gives long lasting energy and essential fats for body. so many people prefer to take fish oil tablets for omega-3,omega-6,9 supplement but remember once again fishes all over the world are polluted with mercury , so make sure that tablets are free from mercury (by special process),or flexseed oil is the best vegetarian alternative. eat 2table spoon of oil with salad or cereal or on bread.remember dont heat it , it should be kept under 30 degree.
javas tel is also very good alternative for cooking oil ,its good for heart also.
I think that's enogh for this time.

MM-- u gave very good info. But in India where we use coconut oil in cooking apart from applying on hair? I eat banana wafers fried in coconut oil, which came from Kerala. I can see parachute coconut oil which we use for hair purpose. Here some of the hair cut guys adviced me not to apply any oil on hair because that closes the pour on our skin. I do not like shampoo either.

Heating any oil too much is actually not good. One should heat the oil at very low temp and not for a long time. When u see there is steam coming out from oil, it means its heated too much and that kind of oil is very dangerous for our health. Also one should not use leftover fried oil.

In order to reduce the oil quantity in cooking, I boil any vegetables, cereals and then put all the spices in it and at the last give taLaka just in one table spoon of oil. I found this method quite satisfying than using just minimum oil for frying oninon, mohari, jire.. u know for normal foDaNee work.

thx for ur info although.. its useful and something diff to read here. But do keep coming regularly. Don't disapper for a long period :-)

Manisha, whatever u have written is really helpful. But Ghee is made out of Milk and is bad for health is used in large portion. It has saturated fats - again not good for health.

javasa = Flax Seeds so both are same.

Did you know that flax seeds germinate even after heating at certain temperature?

There is a guy called Udo Erasmus, he has a blend of oil - called Udo's oil.
He has good website -- must go through it -

I will try to read more about other Raw foods and essential minerals whenever I get time.

* red peppers are richer in vitamines than yellow or green peppers.

* Milk / milk products should not be eaten with iron-rich food. Calcium reduces the iron absorption capacity.

* Vitamine C enhances iron absorption capacity. This is very helpful in case of veg. diet.

* Tomato has minimum (only Vit. C) nutrition value among vegetables. Eating tomatoes in salads is actually useless.

* Egg-yellow is good for growing and active kids.
