Photography - Critic's Choice

Winner : Donan Castle by Saurabh
Judge : Prashant Khapane

Notes :
1. I have separated aesthetic and technical side and given points for each, and a final winner(s) will be the one who gets the highest points.
2. I have tried not to see the names of the poster, and even if then have tried to remain impartial. (sometimes signature is so clear that I can make out who the poster is).
3. Many posters are still using film and using a way to present them digitally. I understand that not everybody has access to the best possible scanning equipment and posses craft needed.
4. That does not mean digital shooters have unfair advantage, the basics still remain the same. You simply(thankfully) can not point and shoot.
5. Unfortunately many terms are easier to express in English and my laziness, limited time does not allow to post this in Marathi. My apologies.

IMAGES

* Mayurdeep

I liked the theme and the background. However, use of flash is very obvious here. It is perhaps on camera flash which makes the matter worse. One can easily use a piece of paper or home made flash modifier even for on camera flash.
I might have preferred the background a little sharper as it looks interesting.
aesthetic - 2/5 technical - 1/5 = 3/10

* Hi Waat....

Again the concept is really good. Tilted horizon is really a problem here but can be easily corrected, so is the haze ubiquitous in India. UV filter might have helped cutting it.
aesthetic - 3/5 technical - 2/5 =5/10

* Maza parisar

how I wish I had access to such a green backyard. The hot-spots are troubling here, bland sky could have been avoided, that is also the reason it looks so flat overall.
aesthetic - 1/5 technical - 1/5=2/10

* Abhishek

The hot-spots are troubling in this image, could have been avoided, that is also the reason it looks so flat overall.
aesthetic - 1/5 technical - 1/5=2/10

* jay Ganesha

I really like this. Wish it was little sharper, low light and shutter speed has brought a little bit of blurriness.
aesthetic - 3/5 technical - 2/5=5/10

* Maem lake (or is it Maye Lake?)

What is beyond those trees looks really interesting and photogenic location to me. The trees blocking the view do not help much unfortunately.
aesthetic - 1/5 technical - 1/5=2/10

* Pratibimb This looks like a real good scene to me. There is a chance to make a fine image if you visit this place again. I wish it was larger than this. Exposure is though and if you had taken time to avoid the hot spot this could have been a very good image.

aesthetic - 3/5 technical - 2/5=5/10

* Breakfast What a wonderful scene. All those giraffe together for breakfast create a nice composition. I wish the cars were not visible but one can't help I think. I might have moved a bit to your left side and taken care of not cropping the right-side giraffe and exclude the lamp-post.

aesthetic - 3/5 technical - 3/5=6/10

* Amboli wanaarsena....

not visible.

* Himalaychya sanidhyaat

Looks like a very good place to me. Wish light was better, this has led to the flat look. One could have framed a little tighter or avoided portion of the sky. However, it remains a nice scene, one could still salvage it a but by post-processing.
aesthetic - 3/5 technical - 2/5=5/10

* rang sandle....

Wonderful colors, I love the pastels. Those sticks also help the composition a lot. Create wonderful diagonal lines and add to already existing horizontal lines. I wish the horizon was not tilted and date stamp not there.
aesthetic - 4/5 technical - 3/5=7/10

* Gagnaas chimbite...

Here too, I love the lines and different shapes. I wish it was not as overexposed.aesthetic - 3/5 technical - 2/5=5/10

* Faar ukadtey...

This looks like a wonderful place. The statues are really wonderful and remind me of places in Europe. I wish it was not framed so tightly though. The cropped legs, hand and head do not help. Some portions of the image are also slightly over exposed.
aesthetic - 3/5 technical - 3/5=6/10

*
Inverness...

Same here. It is infact from Europe. Wonderful mixed light and great use of existing elements. I wish it was little sharper.
aesthetic - 3/5 technical - 3/5=6/10

* Askona....

I wish you might have explored this place a bit and found a better location to shoot the image. Those mountains in the back ground and the lake make an interesting scene nonetheless.
aesthetic - 2/5 technical - 2/5=4/10

* Kuthla kunchala....

Wonderful colors and great use of silhouette so they stand out. I wish those birds were little closer or prominent. aesthetic - 3.5/5 technical - 3.5/5=7/10

* Paalvi

This is really interesting and I like what you are after. Unfortunately the important element is out of focus here. tighter frame and proper focus might converted this into a winner.
aesthetic - 1.5/5 technical - 1/5=2.5/10

* Warasaa.

Nice idea and colors are nice. However theout of focus element (may be green jacket) spoils this image. Little wider view might have better imo.
aesthetic - 2.5/5 technical - 2.5/5=5/10

* Shandoh suryast..

Wonderful scene. I wish all that dead space was better used by careful exposure.
aesthetic - 3/5 technical - 3/5=6/10

* Suryast

Nice sunset. Exposure is a problem here though.
aesthetic - 2/5 technical - 2/5=4/10

* Agnishikkha - Wonderful colors. Personally I might have gone for a close up or used longer lens to throw background out of focus. aesthetic - 2.5/5 technical - 2/5=4.5/10

* Maru ka oodi I also like the title, image has many technical problems. Overexposure is one, framing could have been tighter too.
aesthetic - 2/5 technical - 1/5=3/10

* oon pawsaacha khel

I like different layers a lot.However image appears flat overall, more due to improper handling of exposure. aesthetic - 3/5 technical - 2/5=5/10

* Surya ani jal

Wonderful image. Good use of sun burst and handling of flare here. I wish for a little more contrast but otherwise nice image.
aesthetic - 3.5/5 technical - 3.5/5=7/10

* Tondala paani sutale. Wonderful use of repeating patterns and color. I wish for a little more contrast but otherwise nice image. aesthetic - 3.0/5 technical - 3.0/5=6/10

* Makhamal

I like this image a lot. Wish it was slightly sharper. aesthetic - 3.0/5 technical - 3.0/5=6/10

*
Donan Castle This is a wonderful image. Wonderful use of colors and a very nice composition. Saturation is a bit over the top but works well for this image. Without that images might have not scored on the technical side as sky does look slightly over exposed to me. aesthetic - 4/5 technical - 3.5/5=7.5/10

* flaying march

Nice scene. And a nice image, I wish the birds were not centered and exposure handled a little better. aesthetic - 3/5 technical - 3/5=6/10

* Bhakshyachya shodhaat

nice scene but light is not helping here. Good use of flash/fill light to get the feather details. I wish the bird was not dead center too. aesthetic - 3/5 technical - 3/5=6/10

* Suryast

Nice sunset. Elements could have been better used though.
aesthetic - 2/5 technical - 2/5=4/10

* Lal khekda

Nice one, I might have used longer lens to tightly crop this. And did you get the model release?
aesthetic - 2/5 technical - 1/5=3/10
