Last sunday attended a very good discussion session by Smt. Vidya Bal
(noted social activist and sampadak of "Miloon saryajani"). She
started with a talk for around 30 minutes on her "manoos mhanun
jaganyacha pravas", later we shifted to discussion on various points.
It was more of informal kind of program as very few attended it
inspite of MMLA mailing and putting it up on website. (This has
become a norm in Southern LA.. Matter of fact she also empahsized
on "sushikshit Madhyamvargachi udasinata" and it was clearly evident)

In last few days 3 different people shared similar kind of thoughts
though on different level.
First Avinash Dharmadhikari who was very optimistic even after
accepting troubling things happening in India and what we see in
Media.
Second was Mr. Anil Gore (Professor of statistics from Pune University)
who mentioned how we should interpret the meaning of 16 sanskars and change it as per
current scenario. Example was rather than inviting a priest and doing munj, he suggested inviting your kids 1st grade teacher, who will be giving all the knowledge to your kid. One should try to be more human was his emphasis.

Third, Mrs. Vidya Bal. Altough I had apprehension initially regarding
Stri mukti chalval, picture was very clear after talking to her. Its
more of self realization and doing some thing for/ thinking about
others. One good point was not to do "aandhaLaa aadnyadhaarakapaNaa". One
should not fear to Question on anything which he/she feels incorrect.
Question might have come from any one, even elder, no need to fear about that..

At the end we saw presentation of celebration of 10 years
of "Milun saryajani" masik. It was very well directed by Deepa Shreeram and performed by various artist including Jyoti and Amruta Subhash.

I hope that atleast in 2005 No one will talk about "sushkshit madhyamvargachi Margal/udasinata" ...

He proposed to build a residential community for NRIs in a place, which will be calm and quiet but also close to the city so that major help such as medical care will be easily available. By elections in Goa are over, results are out. Congress has clinched power back from BJP. God knows when this small beautiful state will get stability when it comes to Government. Goa has seen almost 2 dozen CMs and their governements since 1990.

Even now, the way things happened in Goa - collapse of BJP government, reisignation of MLAs, confidence votes, speaker's action, Governor's action- both congress and BJP has lost their face. This is a sad situation that you cannot believe any political party and voting is finally done based on cast, religion, money power or musle power. Is the sanity from Indian politics gone forever??

Talking to few people in Goa, I was getting a feeling that people have liked the way things were handled by Parrikar's BJP government. Now the basic thing to watch will be what the new Congress Governemnt does? Lets hope it doesnt get into the frenzy of reversing all and sundry decisions of previous governement.
