I am reading a wonderful book 'India' written by Alberuni.
Alberuni was a scientist, astronomer scholer in 10th century and he came to India with prince Muhammad of Gazna. He studied Hindu literature and hindu culture and wrote an excellent book for all the people who need to communicate with Hindu people. In the preface he says, "Its habit of writers writing on history to write wrong information about the people who are not their own. Also many of the discriptions that we have are not eye witness account but written by 'hearsay'" So he him self visited India, studied almost all the literature, Social customs etc and wrote most beutiful book. In this book he compares Hindu philosophy with that of Greek and also Sufi.
He many times slapped hindu people for their faults, but also
He respected Hindues for their achievements in Astronomy and Astrology. Islam was at the top then producing many wonderful men with scientific outlook like Alberuni.
He has written about Hindu king of Kabul 'Anantpala', that 'I respect him for he always chose the path that was right'
There is a letter of Anantpala, King of Kabul given in this book.
In the letter written to Muhmmand of Gazna he says "I have heard that Turks are rebelling against you. If you want I can send you much of the army with my son. Please dont take any wrong signals from this.
Although you have conquired me, I dont want you to be conquired by someone"
