I'm using Windows 98 and IE 5 (latest downloaded). Since I did the download, I'm not able to view Maayboli or for that matter any marathi sites.
I've all marathi fonts loaded on my PC.
Does anybody know the answer to this ?

I think the problem is with u'r 'settings'.
Check if anywhere it is 'plain text only'...I have faced problem with Outlook exp. 5. Although the settings were 'html', and proper encoding was used, the mails I sent used to reach other end as 'blank mails' !!!.... I could not find the solution and finally uninstalled IE 5 and associated components........now the things r working smooth.
I would like to suggest something to all of our friends. Whenever MS launches a new product, let it be used and tested by others. We will use it once it is full-proof.

I have windows Me on my computer, I have downloaded all marathi fonts but still sometimes I get problem with marathi sites...not much with maayboli (some posting I don't see completely..it appears with some gaps), mostly the problem is with Maharashtra times and other sites (I have downloaded fonts and installed it properly)..Has anybody had similar problem with windows 2000 or Me. I am using Netscape Navigator 4.7 ...even the problem is there with explorer

IE 5.5 shows fonts with gaps.
this is known but I'm not sure microsoft knows about it because the problem is with the marathi fonts which has non-width characters such as matra, ukar, rukar, rafar, etc.
Somebody needs to file this bug to all browser vendors.

I access those sites from my office where we have windows NT and I don't get this problem with either Netscape or Explorer.

I have problems with netscpae 6 in reading marathi fonts. it was working in Communicator 4.7. Kiran, helpav re.. :)

Aga Ekjan, Don't use 6.1, 4.7 is much better than 6.1, b'coz it odes not support many plug ins, even I installed it initially but later on uninstalled it b'coz of many problems

Start Button >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Fonts
Hya folder madhey shivaji font installed aahe kaa bagh, try double-clicking and see if it opens properly. Else try re-installing the font. I hope this should work......

the marathi fonts on visiter's machine if he does not has that font already installed.

I really don't know whats the story with these marathi fonts and the fonts the websites use.
I have macintosh as well as windows. I can read marathi only on Safari browser on mac and in IE as well as Netscape on Windows but in both the cases, I can't read headings /main news title in any marathi newspapers like Sakal, Loksatta, MaTa.
I sent mail to the respective webmasters and they asked me to download Netscape 4.7. Thats installer is not available anymore from Netscape and left note on the website that its not standardised for macintosh!!
Anybody knows the reason of this?

Prasadp: Which IE version do you use? In IE you should be able to see properly if appropriate "Encoding" is set(User defined).
