अमेरिकेत आपल्या मेडिकल insurance प्रमाणे PPO शोधायला लागतो and if you moved one more time same search.......बरेचदा जनरल checkup हि राहून जाते कशाला जायचे उगाच असे वाटते आजारपण नाही तर कश्याला जा वगैरे
so my questions are........
1. If general routine checkup is required? and what we need to check
2. how to choose Padiatrician ? so many choices are their cosidering specialization
3.How to select Gynacologist becos smtimes they are not attached to the perticular hospital we choose ( this was one of my friends expr. as some different doctor delievered her baby ..the doctor who used to check her was not attached to that hospital...and she come to know this in end)

we are here in US almost for a year now and did not visited any doctor (
कारण तशी गरज पडली नाही..) just 2-3 visits at padiatrician for my 3yr old to get Yellow Card which is required in preschool (vaccination report)

Please post your suggestions
Thank you

If your kids do not have any special conditions ( juvenile diabetes etc.) you want to consider a pediatrician that is close to your home and has reasonable office hours - at least until 8 pm on weekdays, part time on saturdays. Make sure they have multiple people in the practice - this offers wider/better coverage. Talk to other parents desi as well as non-desi parents in your neighborhood. If the practice has a diverse clientele - immigrants especially, that is a plus. This gives them exposure to various dietary preferences and cultural exposure as well.

After 30 or 35 years of age, annual routine medical exam is recommended. The doctors will usually ask for blood work - they look for sugar, lipid profile, thyroid etc. The doctor will ask you about family history , check weight, height, BP. It is good practice to get your eyes tested once every two years or so, even if you don't notice any problems.

Any OBGYN practice will make you see all the doctors in the practice during your pregnancy. This ensures that when you do end up in the delivery room, you've seen all the doctors in the practice. Even if you have a scheduled C-Section, you could end up in the delivery room ahead of time because of contractions and then who ever is on call will deliver the child. Again, talking to other people who go to that practice is helpful. Hospitals offer open houses / visits for prospective parents. Choose one that is convenient to get to from your home and work.

It is also good idea to get an annual OBGYN check up for all women regardless of age. At 35 or 40 you should also consider getting mammograms. Several hopsitals/institutions offer free mammograms once-twice a year for those folks whose insurance doesn't cover them.
Hope this helps
