Hi all, I live in New Jersey.
I own this house for last 5 yrs.The house is now 20 yrs old. It is in good area, easy for commute, very good schools.
Now here is a problem. My house has nice finished basement, but recently we found that one side wall of basement has dampness, and a mold has developed on some part of the wall. Seems like ther are some waterproofing issues. WHEN i called the agency, they quaoted me a hefty 12K amount for waterproofing of whole basement. for that they need to knock down all the finished part of the basement! They say this is a common problem which occurs when house is @ 20-25 yrs old. and just fixing of one wall is Not enough. so in all my expences will be 12 K + cost of finishing the basement again!
Has anyone gone thru this type of problem? How common is this problem really? I am ready to fix the problem but in future if I want to sell this house, will this record in the disclosure create any problem for selling? Any help, pointers will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
