I don't know the specific rules about Singapore airlines, but alomost every major airline (as per one employee of British Airways) have reduced baggage allowance in last few weeks. My wife travelled last week by BA and this new rule was already in effect at BA.

My inlaws came by Singapore and they had not yet reduced their baggage allowance. But it's best to call the airlines and find out. Korean has already reduced their allowance to 50lbs. per person if I am not mistaken.

even companies like Northwest and Delta which have filed bankruptcy have reduced the limits on weight to save the fuel to 25kg.
However AirIndia still allows 32kg.

Thanks for response. We checked online on Singapore site and we also called them on both they say 2* 32KG and 1*7Kg is allowed. But travel agents in India they are telling us 23 KG so i wanted to check.

sayalimi, have u asked the singapore airlines specifically that earlier it was 70 pounds and now we hear its 50 pounds, so what is right?
if you have just asked what is allowed baggage, it is highly possible that the person told you that he knows, without checking actual fact.
My sis came this month but I dont remember which airline. definitely it was over atlantic. she said all airlines has reduced it to 50 lb*2 + cabin bag.
she was allowed to use old rule of 70 lb because she had booked the ticket before the new rule was implemented.
so check again with the airline asking specific questions.
anyways, in india, if they say not 70 but 50, your bro can give the remaining stuff back to ur parents or so.
