oh..ok...mhatala ugach madhy tond nako ghalayala... Disclaimer: I am not a physical trainer or an expert. Just some experience and knowledge. These are my personal opinions. Weights is an essential part of any exercise. Weight loss can not be complete without it. It tones your muscles, strengthens the core and makes you strong. Not to mention, your metabolism at resting increases since muscles need more energy, more calories are used up for basic body functioning resulting in faster weight loss. Weights can be done anywhere. You dont have to go to gym. Any sports equipment stores in the US carry all kinds of free (mhanaje fukat nave) weights. You can start with 2-3 lbs to avoid any kind of muscle injury. You can do various arm, legs and abs exercises with free weights. I like the dumbbell shaped since they are easier to carry. You can carry them while walking or running to burn more calories. And they are not very expensive as well. Many cable channels in the US have started an on-demand channel which have many stored programs. They have a lot of fitness programs. You can learn the strength training exercises that way. Or you can rent videos from the public library. Once you know how to do the exercises, you wont need the tapes again. They are very simple. Gyms have elaborate machines for each individual exercise which are nice and simple. You can lift more weights with the machines. If you have an access to the gym, I would recommend using them at least once to see if you like them. Get one session of personal trainer and understand all the machines. Its worth spending one time charge to really understand which machine is used in what way and which ones are suitable for you. Havin said all that, weights are not the only way to do strength training. Pilates and Yoga (IF DONE CORRECTLY) achieve similar results. Simply put, these techniques use your own body weight instead of external weights to tone your muscles. Give all these a shot and decide whats best for you. Ill be happy to answer all your questions to the best I can. Nakshatra, good info. one doubt. It is said that calorie burning starts only after you workout continuously for half an hour or so. What does your experience say? As I understand it, 2 sets of 15 minutes workout will tone my muscles but not achieve weight loss. Is it true? It is very difficult for some people to get about 30-40 minutes at a stretch for exercise. Any more inputs regarding this are most welcome

Great Komalrishabh! Running in these awareness races is a very satisfying experience...yours is a great achievement... I have done a couple races myself...although I still lack in stamina...tyamule continuous 5 kms/miles palu shakat mahi... Arati, what you have said is partially true...your heart rate has to get to certain level to start burning considerable amount of calories...and a reasonable exercise at a time helps that...it's advisable to exercise at least 30 mins to get some results...but Any exercise is better than no exercise... I just read some in recent fitness news that you can get similar (not the same) results if you split your workout in 3 batches of 15 mins instead of 45 mins one time if you cant dedicate that much time due to your busy schedule. But the key to lose weight is to have a right attitude
try to squeeze in some physical activity in anything you do
park your car farther away while going to grocery shopping
get down at a previous bus stop
try to walk to a friends house instead of talking an auto
take stairs instead of elevators, walk to peoples desk while at work instead of calling them
walk to a cafeteria far away during lunch time
increase your pace while walking in general
And the most important part is diet
if you dont watch what you eat, youd never reach your goal
At the risk of repeating what many people have previously said on this BB, theres no magic pill to fitness and theres no such thing as target / spot reduction. Cardio is extremely important in weight loss
just doing weights or yoga is NEVER going to work
itll help but them alone are not enough
with cardio, youd lose weight all over and thatll get rid of problem areas too
I am trying my best to help me get fit and in better shape

e sorry me 15 divas aajaari hote so was not able to log in.. just now i read information that you can loose the weight only if ur working for more than 60 min. otherwise u will not gain but can not loose also.. if you want to loose weight ...just simple and fun thing to do..bring some bollywood music (dance/songs) and dance with it..u will get excellent result..
